Leaulah was born January 23, 1934 in rural Galena, KS, the daughter of Evelyn (Cook) and Ellis L. Stone. She grew up on a farm near Crestline, KS attending Stone School through 8th grand and completing her education at Columbus High School, Columbus, KS, graduating in 1952.
She was married to Otto Hodge. They met and became sweethearts in high school and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on September 5, 2014. Otto resides at their rural farm home near Columbus, KS.
Leaulah was a life time area resident of rural Galena. After completing high school, she accepted a position as clerk at the SRS office at the Columbus Court House and retired from there in 1999 with 47 years of service. Leaulah and Otto were of the Assembly of God faith and attended church until Leaulah’s health declined. She still enjoyed the Sunday morning church services provided at the Galena Nursing home until her passing.
Survivors include her husband, Otto, of the home; a sister, Judy HJ (Stone) Vanek of Linn Valley, KS as well as beloved brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, with many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister Beaulah, and a brother, Ellis Stone Jr.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Pastor Robert Blake will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, August 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
