After the war, he married Elizabeth Dillman and fathered Christian S. (b. 02/28/72), Margaret (b. 06/26/74), John B. (b. 06/27/76), Samuel (b. 02/19/78), Sarah E. (b. 05/16/80 - married George Washington Straw), Elias (b. 12/10/81), Mary (b. 02/28/84), Monroe N. (b. 12/03/89), and Irvin (b. 02/19/91). In 1895, he lived in South Hanover Township, Dauphin County, but died of "pneumonia" in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County.
