Graveside services, in charge of Rev. James I. Shockley, of Danville, were Thursday afternoon in the K. of P. Cemetery, Lizton, for Elmer W. Kennedy, age 84, brother of Mrs. Vangie Leach of Danville.
Mr. Kennedy, a retired farmer, was living with his son, Verle, at Angola, since failing health compelled him to leave his home in Lizton. He died while visiting in Tuscola, Illinois.
He was the son of Emmett and Susan Overstreet Kennedy, and was born near Lizton. He was married to Minnie Keeney, who died when their three children were quite young. The daughter, Leora, was reared in the home of Mrs. David Tucker, an aunt, and her husband, near Jamestown and Mr. Kennedy cared for the two sons, Curtis and Verle.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Lizton.
The daughter, Mrs. Leora Landrus, of Indianapolis, preceded her father in death. The sons, Curtis, of Tipton, and Verle, of Angola, and a brother, Dr. Otis Kennedy of Rushville, survive.
