Until the state of his health forced his retirement he was associated with the McBride Cooperage Co. of Charleston.
He was born in Charleston Sept. 25, 1909, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin (Nancy Stroud) Whitehead. He was a member of the Methodist Church here.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Farmer Whitehead; 10 sons, three daughters, 13 grandchildren and four sisters.
The sons are Charles, Wm., Russell, Irvin, Arthur, Jimmy, John, Ricky, Ben and Bob Whitehead; the daughters are Mrs. Richard Knaup, Mrs. James Wedeking and Miss Nancy Whitehead. The sisters are Mrs. Russell McBride, Mrs. A. J. Drinkwater, Jr., Mrs. Laney Black and Mrs. Vernon Goodin.
Services will be conducted Friday at the Methodist Church. Burial will be held at the Odd Fellows Cemetery here.
