Odetta Jennie Porter Monson, 87, passed away May 7, 2013, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born April 14, 1926, in Mapleton, Idaho, the daughter of Frederick Earl and Jennie May Gilbert Porter.
She married Axel Elvoid Monson on Dec. 15, 1944, in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death May 26, 1992. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served as a secretary in the Sunday School and as ward librarian for over 30 years. She worked many years as a custodian for the LDS Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, quilting and traveling. She loved going for car rides.
She is survived by son-in-law Don R. Bartlome of Preston; two grandsons, Don-Mikel (Amber) Bartlome and Nickolas Bartlome of Preston; two brothers and four sisters, Dorin (Lucy) Porter of Mapleton, Idaho, Luana Esplin of Preston, Onda (Keith) Taylor of Thomas, Idaho, Larry (Madge) Porter of Inkom, Idaho, Donna (Jim) Anderson of Tremonton, Utah, and Maxine (Bernard) Lund of Moreland, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Wanda Monson and RaNae Bartlome; son Eldon Monson; and brother Woodrow Porter.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, May 11, 2013, in the Whitney 2nd Ward chapel, 1444 S. 1600 East in Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Jim Summers conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, Idaho, and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
