Hanley Johnson, 79, who had lived in Decatur County on R.R.8, Greensburg, over 53 years, farming until his retirement in 1970, died Saturday at 7 a.m. in the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Johnson was born May 19, 1904, in Ripley County, the son of Grant G. and Daisy Mae Shook Johnson. He was affiliated with the Wesleyan Church. He was married to Barbara Hardin march 5, 1927, in Lawrenceburg, and she survives, with four daughters: Mrs. Estel (Florence) Eckart, Markel, Mrs. Ernest (Ada) Batman, Frankfort, Mrs. Eugene (Helen) Jackson, R.R.5, Greensburg, and Mrs. Alger (Shirley) Satterfield, Columbus; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Milo (Hazel) Stiver, Connersville.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Johnson.
The services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ernest Carroll and the Rev. Thomas Spoonamore officiating, and with burial in the Clarksburg Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday. The family suggests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Gideon Association.
