Ella is listed in the 1900 Dorchester Co., MD census, living as a servant in the home of George A. Hall & wife Josephine (Dodson)--this Josephine was her step-mother's (Laura Dodson Howeth) sister. Ella died as a widow at the Belle Haven Nursing Home in Dorchester County, MD. Prior to that she lived several years with her half- sister, Josephine (Howeth) Miles in Easton, MD. Even though she is buried in the 'Cook' cemetery plot (her first husband's burial location), she later re-married to William A. James, who was also widowed.
