Robert M. Lawhead Jr., 73, of 110 South Fourth St. Clearfield, died Saturday, April 10, 1993, at his home.
Mr. Lawhead was born on July 7, 1919, in Clearfield a son of Robert M. and Lelia (Boal) Lawhead Sr.
He retired as a designer engineer from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in 1980 after 33 years of service.
He was a life member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Clearfield, and was a life member of the Clearfield Fire Co. No. 1. Also he was a member of the John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, Clearfield American Legion; the Philipsburg Council No. 621, the Order of the United Commercial Travelers and of the American Society of Highway Engineers.
Mr. Lawhead was an army veteran of World War Ii where he was a captain with the 244th Engineers Battalion and received the Bronze Star at the "Battle of the Bulge."
He is survived by his wife, Theda Jean (Kittleberger) Lawhead whom he married on May 30, 1946 and by a son and two daughters: Robin L. Lawhead, San Francisco, Calif.; Linda L. Pollock, Philipsburg, and Gigi L. Gearhart, Clearfield.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Amy Pollock, Matthew Gearhart and Alyssa Gearhart and a brother and two sisters: Theryll Lawhead, Clearfield; Geneva Kelson, St Marys, and Vivian Duckett, Clearfield.
Mr. Lawhead was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mildred Narby, and by a brother, Donald Lawhead.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield, with Dr. Dennis N. Reedy and the Rev. Bruce H. bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home tomorrow from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1 and 2 p.m.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
