A, 50th Pennsylvania Infantry. He re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer January 4, 1864, at Blaine's Crossroads, Tennessee, and honorably discharged with his company June 30, 1865.
He married Lucy Anna Rothermel January 28, 1866, in Northumberland County, and fathered Hannah Sevilla (b. 10/06/66), Rolandis (b. 07/06/68), Lorenzo (b. 1869), Isaac Monroe (b. 06/19/70), Anna Elizabeth (b. 01/02/73), Emma (b. @1873[?]), John (b. 1874), Charles Milton (b. 02/09/75), Amelia (b. @1876[?]), William Victor (b. 08/02/76), Sarah Ellen (b. 12/21/78), Nicholas Edwin (b. 1880), John Quincy (b. 06/09/82), Lucy Mary (b. 05/31/85), and Clayton Franklin. He is a brother to John Franklin Adams #15812224 & Isabella (Adams) Seltzer #19689600. Nicholas & Sarah had 13 children total.
