Albert Oberst
Albert B. Oberst, 60, well known Owensboro attorney, died suddenly in the Daviess county circuit courtroom, while court was in session, shortly before 11 o'clock Wednesday. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Oberst was representing a client in court, and was seated in a chair when he suddenly slumped. A physician who was called pronounced the attorney dead.
Mr. Oberst was born in Owensboro on Nov. 7, 1883, and was a son of Andrew and Mary Tennes Oberst. He attended St. Frances academy
and Owensboro high school and received his degree in law at Notre Dame university. He was admitted to the bar in 1906; and has practiced his profession here since that time.
A staunch Democrat, Mr. Oberst was actively interested in various civic and religious movements. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Knights of Columbus, and held offices in both organizations.
On June 4, 1913, Mr. Oberst was married to Miss Marie Wittgen, of Evansville, who survives together with the following children: Ensign Paul Leo Oberst, Hawaii; Miss Alma Oberst, Evansville, Mrs. Francis Mellen, Muncy, Pa.; Sgt. Charles Oberst, Camp Butner, S. C.; James E. Oberst, Seaman, second class, who is with the Pacific fleet; and Miss Margaret Oberst, Owensboro; and the following brothers and sisters: Very Rev. Bonaventure Oberst, C.C., Chicago, A. A. Oberst, Misses Josephine C. and Mary C. Oberst, Capt. Frank X. Oberst and Herman S. Oberst. Owensboro; Joseph I. Oberst, Atlanta, Ga., and Eugene G. Oberst, Cleveland, O.
The body was removed to the James H. Davis Funeral home where it will remain until sometime Thursday.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but services will be held at St. Stephen's Cathedral, of which he was an active member.
