He said he entered the service at Springfield, MO, his commanding Colonel Miscal Johnson (it's hard to read the writing) Name of Regiment was Johnson Regiment. Class of service was the Cavalry and he fought at Springfield, MO.

Anderson Chapman: Capt Jim Bell, Cavalry Col M Johnson Entered service at Springfield, MO Missouri August 1861, MO Vols. The War Department send a letter on August 4, 1913 stating no record could be found.
