She went to school while living on a farm in Texas. The family settled in Delhi, California. She lived on a farm near Delhi and worked with her father in the sweet potato patch when she met the love of her life, John Harvey Nelson. She was the prettiest girl he had ever met. Zora and "Harvey" were married in Turlock in the winter of 1953.
Harvey was a heavy equipment operator and Zora was a homemaker. She stayed busy caring for the home and raising seven children. She was a great wife, Mom, homemaker, and seamstress. She served in 4H, PTA, and other school activities. Zora was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. Later in life Zora served others by cleaning homes and ironing for members of the local community.
She was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Zora was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Donald Bennett, Shirley Anderson and Ronnie Bennett; and two great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, John Harvey Nelson; seven children, Richard Nelson of Turlock, Raymond (Kari) Nelson of Placerville, Rodney (Richelle) Nelson of Hughson, Robert (Gaye) Nelson of Hilmar, Roberta (Ralph) Osburn of Newberg, Oregon, Roger (Cheryl) Nelson of Riverbank and Roy (Machelle) Nelson of Riverbank; four siblings, James (Lela) Bennett of Hickman, Lennie Worsham of Modesto, Lonnie (Marilyn) Bennett of Hilmar and Howard (Jeri) Bennett of Arizona; twenty-one grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
Visitation Tuesday, April 23 from 4-7pm at Allen Mortuary.
Funeral Wednesday, April 24 at 10am at Church of Christ, 500 Crane Street, Turlock.
Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
