LOCAL DEATHS
MRS. MARGARET GROGAN
Mrs. Margaret Coughlin Grogan, 76, of 912 S. 15th street, died at St. Francis hospital late Sunday afternoon. She had been in failing health since suffering a heart attack 3 months ago.
She was born Sept. 5, 1872, the daughter of Thomas Herbert and Ellen Lee Coughlin, in Rock Island, Ill.
For many years she taught as a substitute teacher in the Burlington school system, and also taught at Latty and Park schools, retiring about 15 years ago.
She was married to T. Darwin Grogan, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, June 22, 1904, and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Anthony Abbanat, Milwaukee, Wisc., and Mrs. Thomas Godsil, Burlington; one son, Eugene G. Grogan, Burlington; 4 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. R. A. Linderson, Lockridge, Mrs. Phillip Ording, Lansing, Mich., Mrs. Helen Meyer, Burlington; 2 brothers, Louis V. Coughlin, Cedar Falls. (and ?) Nine brothers and sisters are dead.
Services were held at St. Paul's Catholic church, Wednesday at 9 a.m. The cortege will leave Prugh's chapel 15 minutes earlier. The rosary will be recited at Prugh's Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock.
Burial will be at Aspen Grove cemetery. (Obituary provided by Wm & SJ. Donath #48116482)
