Around 1834 John Gaston married Hannah Bovee (his sister's stepdaughter), the daughter of John Bovee and his 2nd wife Pheobe (Gardner). John and Hannah had 7 children: sons Eli (1835), Caleb (1836), George (1841) and daughters Cynthia Ann(1839), Jane Catherine (1844), Mary E (1846) and Rodina (1849).
After Hannah's death in 1857 John married Artamacy M. (Perrens).
