A number of people were arrested for this murder : John Downey, Richard Jones, Bernard Leary, Daniel Breen and Christopher McDonough. The case against Richard Jones (Secretary of the Ribbon Society) was dropped in June 1840 but he was sent to Tasmania for 7 years for being a member of an illegal society the Irish Sons of Freedom. Probably the case against the others was also dropped.

"Erected by Mrs. LETITIA GANLY of Lurgan Street Dublin. In memory of her late husband Andrew Ganly who departed this life Oct. 1st 1837 Aged 44 years. Also her son William who died 16th Feb.1835 Aged 12 years and her daughter Letitia who died young"
