1888-Oct. 24-Sails with the ship 'Vesta' from Arendal to England, returns 24 Nov. 1888 to the town Tvedestrand.
1889-April 16-Sails with ship 'Vesta' again, from the town Kragero. Sails to England and did not return to Tvedestrand before the 2 Nov. 1889.
1890-June 20-Sails with the ship 'Germanic' from Kristiansand to Cardiff. No return data about the ship.
1895-Feb 17-Andreas Jansen writes to his wife, "My brother Martin is dead" (Andreas is writing from Sea Bright, NJ)
Died near Rio de Janerio (on a Norwegian ship) and reportedly buried in a cemetery in Rio.
Most likely buried in San Franciso Xavier in the part of Rio called Caju, or possibly Sao Joao Batista in the part of Rio called Botafogo. The Consulate usually used these two for burials.
