Died March 21, 1909, at her home near Clayton, Mrs Hanna Courtright, aged 63 years.

Miss Hanna Slater was born in Indiana in 1836 was married to Richard Courtright in Jackson Co, Kan. in 1878 and moved with him to Cawley Co where they lived until the opening of Oklahoma and made the race to a farm on Stillwater Creek south of Stillwater where they resided about 14 years, then to a farm in Clayton Twp.

To this couple were born thirteen children, nine of whom survive and all excepting one daughter who lives in Iowa were able to be present at their mother's funeral.

Mrs. Courtright was a woman possessing many lovable traits of character and through the trying times incident to the settlement of a new country she the (sic) was ever patient and cheerful doing the duties that fell to her lot with a steadfastness of purpose which brought her the respect of neighbors and love from her family. Her death was sudden, caused by paralysis of the brain. The entire neighborhood is shocked and grieved over the lost not a child or grown person in the neighborhood but what realizes a personal loss.

The remains were laid to rest in Stillwater cemetery beside her father and son, Richard, who died some years ago.

Father was Thomas SLATER and Elizabeth MOORFOOT Palfreyman was her mother.

Hannah married Richard Courtright 30 Dec 1867 in Holt, Jackson Co, Kansas. The obit attached to this memorial states 1878, but is incorrect.
