Charles Henry Courtright was the son of Richard Courtright and Hannah Marie Slater Courtright.

He was born in Kansas and at the age of nine, participated in the Oklahoma Land Rush. He was a twin to Sarah Jane Courtright Walkinshaw, wife of William Arthur Walkinshaw. She is buried in Blanchard, Page Co, Iowa.

He married Bessie Little in Payne Co, Oklahoma on 11 Oct 1899 and they had nine children, two dying as infants.

Charles died in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

RITES PLANNED FOR PIONEER MAN
Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday in Strode chapel for Charles H Courtright, a pioneer, 78, who died Friday July 13, in Oklahoma City.

Brother John R Stewart will officiate with interment at Fairlawn cemetery under the direction of the Strode funeral home.

Charles Courtright was born on January 9, 1878, in Cedarvale, Kans., son of Richard and Hannah Courtright and came with them to the Cherokee Strip in 1886, settling on the 3K ranch until the opening of the Oklahoma Territory, when he came to Payne County. He had lived on a farm near Perkins until 11 years ago when he went to Oklahoma City. He was married on June 11, 1899, to Bessie Little in Ripley. He was a member of the Church of Christ and for 40 years a member of the IOOF Lodge at Perkins.

Survivors include his widow, four sons and three daughters who are Roy, Trinity Center, Calif; Charles, Healdton; Walter, Chickasha; William, Miroloma, Calif; Mrs Pearl Clancy and Mrs Delce Copeland of Oklahoma City, and Mrs Betty Laxson of Dallas, Texas.

There are 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A brother, Mode, lives at Blanchard, Iowa, and a sister, Helen DeRain, at Lela.
