WENDELIN PETER (W. P.) ARNOLD passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, May 12,1988, at the age of 72 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Rose Arnold Lethbridge, Alberta.
Mr. Arnold was born on October 20, 1915 at Constanza or Karamurat (near Bucharest) Romania, the son of Stalonus and Magdalena Haag Arnold. He immigrated to Canada with his parents in September 1924 to a farm in Prelate, Saskatchewan where he w as educated . He was the third born of 15 children.
Mr. Arnold had enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy (in 1941), but due to an injury was given an honorable discharge.
He married Rose Kopp of Fox Valley on August 1,1944 and took up residence in Edmonton where he was employed as a radio technician until his move to Lethbridge in 1946 where he became manager of Implement Parts Distributor. A few years later he became well known in Lethbridge and district as "Red' when he was employed by Weston's and Fourex Bakeries as salesman.
His favorite pastime was to do wood crafting and inventions such as knife and scissors sharpeners, coin sorter and musical instruments. In 1965 he bought out Electro Service on 3rd Avenue and established his own business known as Motor Mower later moving to 8 Street South.
Wendelin was a member of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Lethbridge since 1946, was active in years past with St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Pat's Men' Association and Sea Cadets of Lethbridge. Red was predeceased by his parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
Besides his loving wife, Rose, he leaves lo mourn six sons: four daughters, 10 grandchildren; three sisters: Sister Frances Arnold of North Battleford, Saskatchewan Sister Callista Arnold of Saskatoon Saskatchewan, and Sister Margaret Mary Arnold of Edmonton; three brothers: Joe of Red Deer, Tim of Edmonton and Ralph of Nevada U.S.A.; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
