James was the son of Dudley and Julia Evaleen Davis Harmon Sr.

His siblings: Hubert Marshall Harmon (1908-1966); Ray Denzil 'Shorty' Harmon (1913-2002); Dudley nmn Harmon Jr (1915-2007); Dale Thomas Harmon (1920-1923) and Martha Lee Bright (1922-1988).

He married Elsie Lavada Kinnear on October 12, 1951 in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana. They had no children.

Obituary - in part:

He graduated from Center Grove High School in Johnson Co, Indiana in 1929.

He was a lifetime resident of Greenwood, Indiana. He died at St Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Marion Co, Indiana.

James worked 31 years at International Harvester as a machine operator. He retired in 1971.

He was World War II US Army veteran and a member of Honey Creek United Methodist Church, Johnson Co, Indiana.
