Pauline Skelton Christian, age 88, of Church Hill, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center. She was born on January 4, 1925 in Southwest Virginia in the Possum Creek area, but had lived in Church Hill her entire adult life. Pauline was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to her family. She was the last living child of Hugh and Kate Skelton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walker Christian, her son; Walker Christian, Jr. and grandson, Eric Christian. Brothers and sisters; Cora May (Betsy) Williams, Opal Bishop, Jeanette Downs, Helen Skelton, John Robert (Bob) Skelton, William Henry (Witt) Skelton and Hugh Skelton Jr.

Pauline was always proud to be the daughter-in-law of Mary Jane and Arry Derrick. She was a christian and raised her children to love the Lord.

Left to cherish her wonderful memories are her daughter and son-in-law; Annis and Raymond Spears of Church hill, and her son, Burl Christian of Church Hill; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jason and Kristie Spears and their children, Rylan and Hadley, Brad and Rebecca Christian and their children, Peyton, Paxton and Parker, Jessica Christian (Andy) and children, Devin and Dre; always her daughter-in-law; Patricia Christian Moore; brother-in-laws: Paul Derrick and wife, Lois and Valmer Christian; special friends, Sue Pearcy and Brenda Reece; and special niece, Bernice McCracken.

Calling hours are from 12 to 2 PM Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter, Annis Spears.

Graveside services will follow in the Church Hill Memory Gardens with Rev. Ron Cassidy officiating. Eulogy will be given by Helen Davis and music will be provided by Donna Housewright.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions can be made to the Upper Room Fellowship Bible School Fund or the mission fund.
