CROXTON, James "Buddy" Robert, entered into eternal peace on March 23, 2013 at age 90. He was a lifelong patriot and honorable family man. He was born on March 1, 1923 in Lewisetta, Va., to James Marvin and Elsie Balderson Croxton, of Farnham, Va. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1942, and was a retiree of Diamond Shamrock Corp. As a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant during World War II, he proudly served his country with the distinction of "four years, four months and eight days" in the 276th Engineer Combat Battalion. As a young soldier, he met Elfriede, who became the unequivocal love of his life, during his tour in Austria. "Buddy" was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Rachel Croxton and Margaret Mutispaw; brother, Mitchell Croxton; half brother, James Albert Croxton Sr.; and his beloved wife of 65 years, Elfriede. He is survived by his son, Robert Croxton; daughter, Tina Croxton-Johnson and husband, Chris; grandson, Donnie Gladfelter and wife Helen; granddaughter, Nicole Croxton and her mother, Cindy Croxton; granddaughter, Melanie Johnson; and grandson, Eric Johnson, each of Henrico, Va.; sisters, Thelma Frizzelle Kelly (Tom) of Yorktown, Va., Lucille Thomas (The Rev. John) of Farnham, Va., and Dorothy Frizzelle of Millersville, Md., brothers, William Croxton (Mildred) of Chesterfield, Va., The Rev. Linwood Croxton (Carol) of Simpsonville, S.C.; sister-in-law, Mildred Croxton of Chester, Va.; caregiver's aide, Deborah Webb of Chesterfield, Va., and many nieces and nephews of the 142 Croxton descendants. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 26 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, 23060, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, with a burial procession to Westhampton Memorial Park for a graveside blessing. Fellowship to follow graveside service.
