Flavilla Hamilton, daughter of Stoddard Hamilton and Mary Sheldon Hamilton, married John McKenzie in Springwater, New York, in 1841. They came to Michigan before 1855, settling in Somerset and Flowerfield before moving to Newberg in Cass County after the Civil War. To Flavilla and John were born Kenneth H. McKenzie , 1843-1899, twins Mary and Lavina who died young, born 1848, Orlando F. McKenzie, 1849-1917, Edwin Page McKenzie, 1855-1938, and Franklin James McKenzie, 1862-1910.
