Argyl Leary Hudson GREENWOOD - Argyl Bowen Leary Hudson, 84, resident of 110 Hunters Village Dr., wife of James I. Hudson, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at her home. Born in Anderson County April 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Claudus B. and Gertrude Murdock Bowen. A graduate of Honea Path High School, she also attended Lander College. Mrs. Hudson formerly owned and operated Jack and Jill Day Care and also served as Vice President of W.L. Leary Home and Auto. A member of Greenwood First Baptist Church and the Carpenter Sunday School Class of the church, she was a member of the Wednesday Morning Bridge Club for over sixty-three years and was a longtime member of the Chrysanthemum Garden Club. Mrs. Hudson was a loyal volunteer at Self Memorial Hospital (now Self Regional Medical Center) and Meals on Wheels. She was twice married, first to the late Julius L. Leary and was predeceased by brothers, Ulysses Bowen, Winford Bowen and Rex Bowen; and a son-in-law, Tom Marsh. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a son, Dr. Julius L. (Cindy) Leary, Jr. of Greenwood; three daughters, Lynne L. (Tommy) Lovett of Summerville, Kathie L. Marsh of Columbia and Dianne Leary of Greenwood; a brother, Grady (Jane) Bowen of Knoxville, TN; a step-daughter, Joni (John) Herman of Grapevine, TX; step-son, Jon Hudson of Converse, IN; grandchildren, Dr. Lee Allison, Bo Collins, Jay Leary, Graham Lovett, Caroline Leary and Jonathan Leary; step-grandchildren, Jordan Herman, Jaclyn Herman, Jayme Herman, Shelby Hudson, Courtney Hudson and Jake Hudson; three great-grandchildren, Braxton, Porter and Curren Allison. Private family entombment will in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Tuesday prior to the memorial service with the grandsons and son-in-law as pallbearers. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. Honorary escort will be members of the Carpenter Sunday School Class and the Wednesday Morning Bridge Club. The family is at the home in Hunters Creek and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 5:30-7:30 PM Monday evening.
