Bruce Allred joined his heavenly Father in the arms of his family, at home on Sunday, January second. It was the Sabbath, a day in his household which was also known as family day. His daughters described him as "the best husband, dad, and grandfather in the world, a strong man, a man of faith. Amen" He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church serving faithfully on numerous boards and as a member of the Hamaco Sunday Sunday School Class. Bruce always wanted to help eager young businessmen willing to work hard and learn the business. On February 15, 1969 Bruce Allred acquired his first two Dairy Queen franchises-one in Beaumont, and the other in Port Neches-and moved his wife, Jan, and daughters, Patricia and Brenda, to Beaumont. As founder of Golden Triangle Dairy Queen Incorporated, he would eventually own and operate over 35 Southeast Texas restaurants that employed more than five hundred people. When Bruce moved to the Beaumont area he knew very little about the region and became involved the minute he got here. Within three years of the move Bruce Allred became president of the Sabine Area Restaurant Association. He also presided over the Texas Restaurant Association, and the Texas Dairy Queen Trade Association. Bruce lived by the credo that you have to put back into the community, what you get from it. The entrepreneur has given back to Southeast Texas by serving as president of the Young Menis Business League and Beaumont Country Club, and director of the Better Business Bureau, Beaumont Chamber of Commerce and Boyis Haven. He also is a life member of the Lamar Cardinal Club, and a founding member of the Texas Energy Museum. Bruce was a member of the Masonic Lodge #286 and the El Mina Temple. He is responsible for bringing Children's Miracle Network to Southeast Texas. For his effort at helping others succeed at business, Bruce Allred was inducted into the Dairy Queen 'Hall of Fame'. He is also one of the first restaurateurs to be inducted into the Texas Restaurant Associations 'Hall of Honor'. Allred was born July 28, 1937 in Jamestown, Tennessee. Bruce was the loving husband of 47 years to Jan Allred. The proud Father of Patricia Moore and husband David Moore, Brenda McMakin and husband Doug McMakin. He was the wonderful Papa Bruce to Emily Moore Miller and husband Christopher Russel Miller, Dwight David Moore, Molly Lea Moore, Douglas Allred Moore, Caroline Louise Klein, Charles Rogers Klein, Arthur Douglas McMakin, and Madalyn Lanell McMakin. He was the son of Ima Allred, the brother to Sue McCollom and husband Dave McCollom, and David Allred. His Father, Hollis Allred, preceded him in death. Bruce leaves a wealth of friends and family who all love him dearly. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Trinity United Methodist Church followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Broussard's 1605 N Major, Beaumont. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A gathering of family and friends was held on Tuesday evening January 4, 2005 at the mortuary. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison, Beaumont, Texas 77702 or Children's Miracle Network, 3619 Professional Drive, Port Arthur, Texas 77642.
