Married: Nathan Osburn Godbold. Ended in divorce.
Children:
Ira Scott Godbold - 6 May 1886
Married: Jasper Scudder Scott about 1894 in California. Ended with his death in 1920.
No Children
Mary was born in Bell County, Texas, the first place her family settled after coming to Texas from Florida.
In 1880 the family had moved to Zavala County, Texas, and lived next to Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Godbold with whom her father operated a sugar mill as well as farming. This was the introduction to the Godbold family that resulted in three Dampier kids marrying three of Jeff's siblings. Mary's marriage was not successful but produced her one and only child, Ira.
Her marriage to Jasper Scott was a lasting one, he a widower who had lost his wife in 1893. Jasper was 35 years older than Mary. Jasper is recognized as a California Pioneer, having come overland in the 1860's with his family. He was an engineer and inventor/manufacturer of agricultural implements and was very well known for his iron and steel work. The couple also let out furnished rooms in their house.
In the family she was known as "Aunt Sis". She was very much part of the large extended family network in San Jose with her brother Oliver who had married one of the Godbold girls in Texas.
