August C. "Augie" Young, 96, Savannah, Missouri died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home.

He was born June 1, 1916 to Chris and Lydia Young in Karval, Colorado.

August married H. Marcella Hopkins on September 24, 1938. They were married for seventy-four years. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2012.

He was a member of Savannah First Christian Church, a lifetime member of Elks Club in Falls City, Nebraska, Lions club, Past President & Zone Chairman, the Rider's Club of Mound City, and Fillmore Lincoln Lodge #138 A.F. & A.M. and he enjoyed playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Roscoe Young; seven sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors: son, Lavelle Young (Doti), Savannah, Missouri; daughter, Gayneita Shaw (Eldon), El Paso, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Young (Betty); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: 3:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to Asera Care Hospice, 301 E. Price St. Savannah, MO 64485.
