President Abraham Lincoln was the Federal Government granted Abe 40-acres for his contribution in the Black Hawk Indian War of 1832. Even though it says he never visited the land, title and possession of the Howard TWP, Tama County, Iowa land remained in his name until after his death. His widow and son sold it to, none other than Adam Brecht.
