Ola Berniece French Dietz was called home by her Lord and Savior on February 27,2013 at the age of 88. Her family was at her side.

She was born to T.A. (Snowball) and Notie French in Thalia, Texas on May 5, 1924 and attended high school in Fredericksburg. Ola earned a Bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. She taught second grade at Rockport Elementary for 16 years. She resided in Rockport Fulton for over 40 years and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Ola and her husband, Elgin, had a passion for "roughing it smoothly" in their motor home (The Pumpkin) and traveled all over the United States after retirement. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by Elgin, her husband of 62 years, of Fulton; her parents T.A. (Snowball) and Notie French, her mother- and father-in-law Arthur and Margaret Dietz, her brother Delton French, all of Fredericksburg; brothers-in-law Quinn Schlortt of Upton and Marvin Dietz of Round Rock.

She is survived by 3 children: Kenneth Dietz and wife Debbie of San Marcos, Linda Dietz of Fulton, and Jane Johnson and husband Michael of Corpus Christi. She was the loving "Nanny" for 7 grandchildren: Christi and husband Patrick, Shauna and husband Stephen, John wife Misty, Jennifer husband Michael, Laine, Ashlie husband Gabriel, and Justin and for 8 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Hailey, Alexandra, Colson, Bryce, Kennedy, Braedyn, Reed and for Amelia who is due to arrive in May. She is survived by 4 sisters-in-law: Evelyn French of Fredericksburg, Larry (Laura) Dietz of Round Rock, Esther Schlortt of Upton, and Lillian Brown of Bastrop and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Beckmann Funeral Home in Fredericksburg 5-7 p.m. on March 1. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 2 with graveside services following at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg. A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fulton. Time and date will be announced later. Memorials may be given in Ola's name to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fulton, and New Century Hospice in Corpus Christi. Pallbearers are John Dietz, Justin Johnson, Stephen Huddleston, Michael Villalpando, Gabriel Alaniz, and Jacob Guedry. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Johnson of Corpus Christi, Patrick van Ravenzwaaij of Jonestown, Dempsey Brown of Bastrop, David Schlortt of Colorado Springs Colorado, Fred Smith of Wetmore, Colorado, George Hall of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Richard Loden of Rockport.
