Dale Bernard Newton, 82, Altoona, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Fredonia Regional Hospital.

He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Elk City, the son of Luman and Elizabeth Buchanan Newton.

He attended Lafontaine schools and was a retired farmer and contractor.

He attended the First Baptist Church in Altoona and enjoyed going to auctions.

On Feb. 17, 1941, he married Lorene Hare in Elk City. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Janice Morrow, Fredonia; two sons, Wayne Newton, Altoona, and Larry Newton, Buffalo; three brothers, Lyman Newton, Elk City, Roger Newton, Sonita, Ariz., and Garry Tucker, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Springer, Oakview, Calif., and Jean Hare, Neodesha; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Forest, John and Homer Newton, and a sister, Dorothy Tucker.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at First Baptist Church, Altoona, led by the Rev. DeVere DeField and Pastor Monte Stevicks. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
