Mrs. Bessie Williams, 83, of Akin, died at noon Monday at Battle Creek, Michigan after a brief illness.
She was a resident of Franklin County most of her life.
Mrs. Williams was the daughter of James and Lillie Jane Van Cleve Burns.
She was a member of the Akin Baptist Church.
Her husband, John, died in April.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Holloway of Augusta, Michigan; a son, Lawrence, of Battle Creek, Michigan; sisters, Mrs.Gertie Lawrence, of Johnston City and Mrs. Audrey Smith of Benton; brothers, Frank and William Stites, both of Waukegan, and several grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton.

Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery, Akin. Mrs. Williams died Monday at Battle Creek, Michigan, where she had been residing.
