James Waylan Reid, 56, died Monday, July 11, 2011. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, in the Elliott Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox officiating. A private interment was held. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
James Waylan Reid was born on Oct. 4, 1954, in Stephens County to Waylan Warren "Pete" Reid and Dorothy Wright Reid. He married Carla Parker in April 1974 in Juarez, Mexico. He was a rancher and a member of the Church of Christ. James was a member of the Stephens County Jr. Rodeo Board, past member of Pro Rodeo Association, USTRC World Series Team Roping, and Original Team Roping Association.
Mr. Reid is survived by his wife, Carla Reid of Breckenridge; son, Randal W. Reid of Breckenridge; daughter, Keli Jo Bandy and husband, Jace of Breckenridge; granddaughters: Raylee and Randi Jo Reid of Blanco, a future grandson: baby boy Bandy; parents, Pete and Dorothy Reid of Breckenridge; sisters: Donna Boles and husband, Hurley and Barbara Hill and husband, Dennis, all of Breckenridge; brothers-in-law: Mike Parker and wife, Lytane and Clay Parker and wife, Debbie, and Bobby Parker; eight nieces and two nephews.



He was preceded in death by his grandparents, D.R. and Eunice Wright and Jack and Bessie Reid. Memorials may be made to the Button Vick Scholarship fund and can be left at the funeral home.
