Dorothy Jean Wright Reid, 89, died Monday. Memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2PM at the Elliott Street Church of Christ under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Dorothy Jean Wright Reid was born June 12, 1927 to D.R. (Doc) Wright and Eunice Atkins Wright. She was the youngest child of five siblings. She attended schools in Ivan and Elliasville and later Breckenridge, TX. Graduating in 1944 from Breckenridge High School.
She met the love of her life Waylan (Pete) Warren Reid in third grade. They continued their courtship until they married right before Pete went to Italy on May 26th, 1945. They were married for 72 married years.
They resided on third generation family land and raised three children. Donna, Barbara, and James. They enjoyed rodeoing throughout their married life. Pete was a PRCA calf-roper, and later was a participated in NOTRA where they were President and Sweetheart. Dorothy was a member of Eliasville Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible School. She was a room mother for years at East Elementary. She was also proceeded in death by, Doc Randal and Eunice Wright, Brothers John Amos Wright, Atkins (Fat Boy) Wright, and Clinton Marcos Wright. Sister Marjorie Wright Wood, and Son James Waylan Reid.
She was survived by: Husband Pete Reid, Daughter Donna Boles and Husband Hurley, Barbara Boles and Husband Dennis Hill, and Daughter in law, Carla Reid.
Grandchildren: Shannon Boles, Shonda Hill Warren and Husband Will, Shawn Reid Boles, TiAda Hill Radtke and Husband Tim, Randal Waylan Reid, Keli Jo Reid Bandy and Husband Jace, Shalley Kellyn Boles, Shayla Paisley Boles.
Fifteen Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild on the way.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sherwood Myrtie Foster Home in Stephenville, Texas and can be left at Meltons Funeral Home.
