In Jan. 1871 he married Rebecca J. Knight.
They had two known children.
(note - 1900 census says they had three
children but only two were living. The
1910 census says they only had two and
both were living.)

(1) Florence "Flora" Messmore
(July 1872-bef.1924) married in 1899
to Karl Norcross, but by 1910 she
had reverted to her maiden name
and census says she is single.
She predeceased her mother who died
Dec. 1, 1924. No children.

(2) Lydia R. Messmore
(Sept. 1877-aft. 1940) married Oct. 3,
1898 to Edward/Edwin Howard McCune
(June 25, 1870-aft.1940). He was born
in Alleghany County, PA, son of William
Alexander McCune (1844-1883) and
Orthelia Mullen (ca1845-aft.1930).
He was educated in Fayette City High
School and Indiana State Normal School.
For many years he was the post master
of Fayette City.

(2) Flora Messmore McCune (1900-1988)
(3) (unknown that died young)
(4) Rowena Bentley McCune (1904-1993)
(5) Joseph Cooper McCune (1908)

EX-POLICEMAN A.G.MESSMORE PASSES AWAY
THIS MORNING
"Albert G. Messmore died Dec. 2, 1902 at
8:05 a.m. at his late residence on east Penn
Street, of a complication or disease after an
illness of one year, age 59 years.
Deceased was a son of John and Sarah
Messmore and was born in German Township
Nov. 14, 1843.
In January 1871 he married Rebecca J.Knight,
daughter of Lewis and Margaret Knight of
Luzerne Township. That same year they moved
to Uniontown where they lived seven years
then moved to the old stone house on the pike
in Wharton township where they resided six
years coming back to Uniontown in 1884
where they have since resided. In 1886 the
deceased had charge of a freight department
of the P. and O. railroad. He served on the
police force of Uniontown six years and was
in active service when his sickness overcame
him one year ago. During said period he had
been confined to bed. Nearly everybody in
town knew 'Bert' and they all liked him.
He was gentle in manner and pleasing in
demeanor, an affectionate husband and an
indulgent parent.
He is survived by his widow and two
daughters, Mrs. Lida McCune, wife of
Postmaster E.H. McCune of Fayette City and
Mrs. Carl Norcross of Uniontown. He is
also survived by two brothers, George R.
of Uniontown and William of Kansas and
two sisters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Jamison
and Mrs. Jennie Moxley both of Kansas.
Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment in
Oak Grove Cemetery."
