Elsie Russell, 80, of Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, died at 1:25 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, in Lebanon after an illness. Daughter of the late Virgil D. Coakley and Lille Gupton Coakley, she was born April 29, 1915, in Green County. Russell was a member of Campbellsville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom after 27 years. She married Covie Russell Sept. 8, 1934, who survives. Russell is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Howard "Joe" and Maurine Russell of Campbellsville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Louise Russell of Campbellsville and Barbara and J.B. Sneed of Greenwood, Ind.; five grandchildren, Clayton Howard Russell of Texas City, Texas, Brent Sneed of Hamilton, Ohio, Teresa Riegle of Mattoon, Ill., Tilda Russell of Galveston, Texas, and Myrna Russell of Campbellsville; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Paul Coakley, Lynn Coakley, Ermine Henderson, and Alma Penick. Funeral was 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, 1996, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. A. Landon Hadley and the Rev. Bob Tucker. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tommy Johns, Eugene McMahan, James Mitchell, Johnnie Reid, Dan Riegle, Hollis Rogers, Clayton Howard Russell, and Brent Sneed.
