He was a native of Mecklenburg County, and the son of the late Thomas Henderson Roberts and Annie Pettus Roberts. Visitation 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2008, McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont and other times at the family's home. Memorial service 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2008, McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont. Inurnment, Gaston Memorial Park. Oren was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Whiting Roberts Company.Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helen Mace Roberts, son Cecil O. Roberts, Jr. and wife Barbara of Belmont, brother Tommy Roberts of Mt. Holly, sister, Margaret Riley of Mt. Holly, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Officiating clergy will be Revs. Allen Smith and Tommy Hope. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
