Mrs. Marie Farris Franklin, of 409 North Columbia Avenue in Campbellsville, daughter of the late Mr. Robert Henry Farris and Mrs. Alice Bowles Farris, was born in Taylor County, June 5, 1898. She died at the Taylor County Hospital Monday morning, August 25th. She entered the hospital two days earlier. She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was an employee of the Taylor County Hospital. She was united in marriage to Mr. Gilbert Lee Franklin in December, 1928. He preceded her in death, January 22, 1943. To this union four sons and one daughter were born. Surviving are: Norman Lee Franklin, Cletus Gilbert Franklin, and Mrs. D. C. (Shirley) Phillips, all of Campbellsville; and Garnett Allen Franklin of Louisville. Besides her children, she is also survived by four grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Mr. Omer L. Farris, Mrs. Lettie Bridges and Mrs. Herman Stubbs, all of Campbellsville; Mrs. Lucille Buster of Lebanon; Mr. Samuel A. Farris of Louisville; and Mr. Robert L. Farris of Rockford, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, August 27 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home by Rev. Marshall Black. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were: J. R. Bohanon, Glenn Smith, Jerry Spalding, J. W. McFarland, Junior and Samuel Lee Crawley.

Mr. Robert Henry Farris, son of the late Sam Farris and Nancy Colvin Farris, was born in Taylor County, January 18, 1874 and died at his home in Taylor County, Sunday, June 24 at 10:30 p.m., having been in ill health for the past six months. He professed faith in Christ a few weeks ago and had expressed himself "as ready to go." Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 27 at 2 p.m. from the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with the Rev. C. L. Flannagan in charge. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Bowles 55 years ago. To this union four sons and four daughters were born. Surviving are: Mrs. Marie Franklin, Omer Farris, Hubert Farris and Samuel Farris, all of Taylor County; Robert Farris, Rockford, Illinois; and Mrs. Edward Buster, Lebanon, Ky. Besides wife and children, he is survived by a brother, Mr. S. M. Farris of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ten grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Alice Bowles Farris, age 84, widow of the late Robert H. Farris of the Red Fern Community, died at her home at 6:10 a.m., Sunday, March 17, after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, from the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Marshall Black in charge of the services, assisted by the Rev. J. Chester Badgett. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. Mrs. Farris united in marriage to Mr. Robert H. Farris in 1896. He preceded her in death, June 24, 1951. To this union four sons and four daughters were born. They are Omer and Hubert Farris, Mrs. Marie Franklin, Mrs. Herman Stubbs, and Mrs. Robert Bridges, all of Campbellsville; Mrs. Edward Buster of Lebanon; Mr. Samuel Farris of Louisville; and Robert Farris of Rockford, Illinois. She also leaves one brother, Mr. John Bowles of this city, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Pallbearers were: Ezra Smith, W. C. Mitchell, Ancel Romine, Willie Rose, Charles Richerson, and Troy Shanklin.
