Civil War veteran. Began a 3 year enlistment on 2 Oct 1861 to Co. G; 5th Infantry Regiment; West Virginia Volunteers. He served them as a Private until "discharged by virtue of reenlistment as Vet. Vol...." 24 Dec 1863. On 25 Dec 1863 he mustered in to Co G; 1st Veteran Infantry; West Virginia Volunteers at Camp Reynolds, W.V. He was described as a 28 year old farmer with grey eyes, dark hair, standing 5' 11.5" in height. He was promoted to Corporal 3 Apr 1865. Died 27 Jul 1865 at Gen. Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland of acute dysentery.
