MRS. MARY HOYER,
The venerable mother of ex-Mayor Samuel H. Hoyer, died at 6 o'clock last evening, at her home
in Croyle township, Cambria county, near Summerhill. About the 20th of June she was taken ill
with heart trouble, which finally terminated as mentioned above. Her demise came as one
passing to a peaceful sleep. The deceased was 67 years of age. She was the mother of eleven
children, ten of whom are now living. They are: John, Henry C., Frank, Wallace and Edgar, at
home; Stephen of Summerhill; Samuel M., of this city; Mrs. Albert Kelly, of Summerhill; Mrs.
Anthony Harshberger, of Conemaugh, and Mrs. E. H. Costlow, of this city. Besides her
children, she is survived by her husband, Jacob Hoyer. Mrs. Hoyer was a model wife and
mother. Kindliness to all made her also an ideal friend and neighbor. She passed her entire life
in Croyle township, and was known to almost everyone in that district, yet so gentle and
consistent was her walk in life, that none knew her but to love her. Her husband and children
were at her bedside when death came. The deceased was a devout member of the Catholic
church. Requiem mass will be celebrated over her remains in St. Bartholomew's church,
Wilmore, tomorrow morning. Interment in the cemetery attached.
