"Samuel M. Hoyer is my 2 grand uncle. I do know he has no stone in the family plot and the only person that has a stone is his son, Harry Raymond Hoyer. I also know that Samuel was a Deomcrat and was an elected Altoona city councilman in 1887 for the 6th ward and was later elected and served as President of the Selected Council also has served two terms as city chairman of the committee on streets and sewers and was Mayor of Altoona 1893 to 1896, also in 1902 to 1905 and again city Mayor 1908 TO 1911. He also was owner/ operator of a coal and building supply store on 9th Ave and 17th St in Altoona. He married Clara McClellan on 24 Oct 1881 and they had 11 children."
