Earl Akin was born February 6, 1887 in Wilson County, Texas, daughter of Ann L. Akin (1869-1901).

The 1900 Federal Census for Woodville, Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation) shows Earl Akin, age 13, born February 1887 in Texas. He is living with his widowed grandmother, Lucinda Akin, age 49, born October 1850 in Arkansas. Also living in the household was Lorinda's son, David N. Akin, age 22, born September 1877 in Texas; and his wife, Laura J. Akin, age 23, born December 1876 in Texas; Lucinda's son, Holland Akin, age 16, born September 1883 in Texas; and Lucinda's granddaughter, Nellie Akin, age 2 months, born April 1900 in Indian Territory.

The World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 shows that Earl Akin registered for the draft on June 5, 1917 in Marshall County, Oklahoma. He gave his age as 30; his current address as Lark, Oklahoma; his birthdate as February 6, 1887 in Texas; his occupation as a farm laborer; and his marital status married with three children. He indicated on his registration that his left eye was out.

The 1930 Federal Census for Odell, Oklahoma (Marshall County) shows Earl Akin, a widower and a farmer, age 43, born in Texas. Living with him were his two children: Melvin R. Akin, age 13, born in Oklahoma; and Ellen E. Akin, age 8, born in Oklahoma.

Earl died September 25, 1968 in Kingston, Oklahoma (Marshall County) and was buried in the Lark Cemetery in Marshall County, Oklahoma.
