Born to Russian Jew immigrants, Minnie spent 15 formative years in San Francisco and attended a business college. With her typing skills, she helped her two younger brothers, Bernard and Zara, complete education at UC Berkeley. Instead of advancing her education, she firmly made her choice to get married and have a family. Committed to her motherly duties with three active sons, Albert, Duncan and Donald, she was very much involved in advocating for better student education before the time of PTA's. Later in her life, she and her hubby were so active in local senior citizen activities that she was asked to be a candidate for state Congress but graciously turned down the offer. A brilliant, strong-minded woman of small stature, Minnie never once regretted her choice of life she had.
