He married Keren Barrett at Rogerville, Tennessee in 1891, and to this union three children were born, Rosa, Clarence and Esther (Mrs. W. G. Seeley). Keren died in Dec. 1902. Neil married second Rachel Crouch on Sept. 15, 1904 at Montrose, South Dakota and two children were born to this union, Neil Clinton Derrick and Donald Scott Derrick.
Neil with his wife and youngest son moved to the farm at Seventh Day Hollow in Sept. 1926.
