WILLSEYVILLE - Samuel C. Cornwell, 71, of Willseyville, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006.

Sam was born in Van Etten, NY on November 7, 1934, son of the late Lola and Harold Cornwell, one of 10 children.

Sam was known by all as a hard working man, who took great pride in his work. He would lend a hand to anyone in need. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with friends and family. He was married to his loving wife, Evelyn Cornwell, for 42 years before she died.

He is survived by his loving companion, Mary Avery; three sons: Wayne Cornwell and his wife, Susie, of Sebastian, FL, Samuel Cornwell, Jr. of Willseyville, NY, and Andrew Cornwell and his wife, Holly, of Van Etten, NY; four siblings: Albert Cornwell, Thelma German, Carl Cornwell, Charlotte Matthews; four grandchildren, and countless brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Sam's request was that family and friends gather to celebrate his life. He loved the State Land at Shindagan Hollow in Willseyville off from Prospect Valley Road. People are invited to gather there at 1:00 on Saturday, November 4, 2006, followed by a get together at the American Legion in Candor, NY at approximately 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Candor Ambulance Squad.
