Edwin was the first child of Edward and Cynthia (Beech) Curtiss born in Heath Township. His mother died when he was about 10 years old. Other brothers of Edwin were Henry born 1875, John E. 1877, James born 1879 and Ned born 1882. He was sometimes called Dellie and sometimes Edward.

July 8, 1895 he married Jessie B. Crocker. They had five children - Roy A. born 1896, Marie R. born 1897, Ora A. born about 1900, John E. born 1904, and Lillian Jessie born 1906.

According to his registration for the draft, he was of small build and had blue eyes and brown hair. At 28 years old, he was living in Leroy Lake Co, Ohio and working as an inspector. He had several other occupations including, carpenter, farmer, and at age 45 he had his own wood working business.

In 1910 his family was living in Painesville in Lake County Ohio.

April 20, 1918 he married Charlotta "Lottie" Skinner Foote in Allegan County Michigan. By 1930 they were living in Valley Township Allegan County. She brought to the marriage one child Dorothy Foote and Lottie and Edwin then had L Wilson born 1920.

Edwin died at 80 years old.
