Katherina BENDER born 23 June 1884 in Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia was the daughter of Christian BENDER and Elisabetha GROSSHANS.

Katherina married Jacob HELM Sr. in 1907 most likely at Kassel, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia. Jacob and Katherina HELM plus their only daughter Paulina immigrated to America through Ellis Island, New York on the 11th of August 1910.
The HELM family lived in Wausau, Wisconsin, for 1½ years, and then decided to try farming at Ashley, McIntosh County, North Dakota. They stayed there three years and then moved to Canada, settling in the vicinity of Carbon, Kneehill County, Alberta in 1914.
In the spring of 1921 the family that then consisted of one girl and six boys moved to Hilda, Alberta, Canada where they purchased the Ludwig LIPPERT farm, one mile west of Hilda.
At 38 years of age Katherina Helm passed away on the 25th of February 1923.
