Maurice Benningfield, 88 of Campbellsville, died Monday, March 16, 1998, in Campbellsville due to an illness. Son of the late Bynum Benningfield and Rose McKenty Benningfield, he was born in Taylor County, Ky., on Dec. 8, 1909, and was a member of Campbellsville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a retired farmer, rural mail carrier and owned and operated Benningfield Grocery for 30 years. Benningfield was married to Lela Campbell on Nov. 17, 1947, who preceded him in death on March 15, 1990. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randall Benningfield and Bobby and Carolyn Benningfield, all of Campbellsville, and Richard and Betty Lou Benningfield of Glasgow; six grandchildren, Steven Benningfield and Sharon Benningfield of Mississippi, John Benningfield and Megan Benningfield of Glasgow, Braxton Benningfield of Bowling Green, and Todd Adams of Campbellsville; one great-granddaughter, Sidney Benningfield of Mississippi; two brothers and one sister, Melvin Benningfield of Campbellsville and Bernard Benningfield of Louisville, and Mabel Browning of Destin, Fla. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Necia Goecker. Funeral was at noon, Wednesday, March 18 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. J. C. Greenwell. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.
