When Adam Wilson Hyde and his twin sister Mary B. were born in 1835 in Alexandria, New Jersey, their father, John, was 44, and their mother, Catherine, was 33. He married Susanna 'Susan' V Petty on June 28, 1862, in Hunterdon, New Jersey. They had two children during their marriage. He died as a young father on January 26, 1865, in Richmond City, Virginia, at the age of 30, and was buried there.
