Jose Ignacio (Nash) Bernal, 77, died on Feb. 3, 2005, in Las Vegas, N.M. He was born on March 19, 1927 to Jose Pablo and Teresina (Lopez) Bernal in Tenaja, N.M.

He was a resident of Springer, a WW II Veteran, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Springer.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alberto and Antonio Bernal and one sister, Virginia Kelly.

He is survived by his wife Lala Bernal of the family home in Springer; sisters, Viola Castillo of Palo Blanco, Elena Bernal and Terecina Jean, both of Albuquerque; a brother, Juan De Dios Bernal and wife Louise of Sherman, Texas; brothers-in-law Tony Gonzales and wife Angie, Bobby Valerio and wife Julie; sisters-in-law, Tessie and Ramona Gonzales of Raton and Nora Bernal of Los Lunas; numerous nieces and nephews, Joe Valentine and many friends.

Visitation was on Feb. 6 and 7 at the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. A Rosary Devotional Service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Father George Silva as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
