Henry was the son of Henry and Catherine Fout. He married Sarah Tyson in Montgomery Co. c.1805. After his parents were deceased, his father died in 1794 and his mother c.1815, and their estates settled, Henry and his older brother, Martin Fout, moved to Virginia. Henry had four sisters; Barbara, Susanna, Catherine and Mary Fout, that remained in Montgomery Co. Pa. Martin Fout and his family settled on a farm east of High View, Frederick Co., Va. (now WV.) Henry settle near Capon Bridge, Hampshire Co. Va.(now WV) and lived there for about ten years. In March 1833, he purchased a farm on Isaac's Creek about two miles NW of Gainesboro, Frederick Co. Va. Henry and Sarah had twelve children, they are listed here as Henry recorded their names in the family bible. All were born in Pennsylvania except Joseph, he was born in Hampshire County.

In 1849, Henry retired from farming and he and Sarah sold their farm and all other property to their son Joseph. Henry's grave is unmarked. His death and place of burial is recorded in the Frederick Co. Death Register, 1853-1912. Henry died at age of 96 years, 3 months and 1 day. His birth date is calculated from this.
